10 Best Nespresso Machines 2023 (Reviews): Ultimate Guide

Coffee has easily become part of my life ever since I studied in college a couple years back, and this not only applies to me, but to many people also.

Preparing it can take quite some time and effort, so most people like me who need a quick energy boost tend to rely on a coffee machine to get us through the day.

Over the years, I have come across many coffee makers and espresso machines, a lot of them coming from Nespresso, so I’ve tested and compared a lot of Nespresso machines to find what many like me would also consider as the best Nespresso machine.

The best coffee maker I found from all the Nespresso machines is the Nespresso Vertuo by Breville, as it has a built-in milk frother, a large water tank to accommodate a lot of people, and very short heat-up time to prepare a cup of coffee as quickly as possible.

However, what I consider to be the best does not necessarily mean the best Nespresso machine for you, so I’ve come up with a list of the top 10 best Nespresso machines to help you discover which machine works best for you!

The Nespresso Vertuo Coffee and Espresso Machine is a coffee maker and espresso maker that belongs to Nespresso’s Vertuo line, much like the Nespresso VertuoPlus, which boasts “extraordinary coffee at the touch of a button”, and only use their patented Nespresso Vertuo capsules.

This Vertuo machine makes barista-grade coffee, while still allowing you to have full control of your coffee volume, milk froth, and mixture ratio.

Its heat-up time is only less than five seconds, so your espresso or coffee will be ready in just less than a minute!

Its integrated milk frother helps with making your single serve coffee or espresso, allowing you to truly have your drink taste like it was professionally made from a coffee shop minus the waiting time.

A Nespresso capsule is very much similar to K-cups and pod coffee, in that they are pre-ground coffee with different infusions, flavors, or coffee strengths so you no longer have to worry about preparing your own grounds.

The water tank on the Nespresso Vertuo Coffee and Espresso Machine can hold a total of up 1.5 liters of water, so you can have it stored if you’re the type to just leave some water and get some coffee prepared without having to worry about constantly refilling the removable water tank.

This espresso machine can also come in a set with the Nespresso Aeroccino original line, which is basically just an Aeroccino milk frother that allows you to control the froth of the milk you wish to add to your coffee, be it hot milk or cold milk recipes, thanks to its advanced milk frothing technology.

The Essenza Mini is another of the Nespresso machines that made it to the list, being a great coffee maker and espresso machine, and works with Nespresso capsules.

The Nespresso Essenza Mini belongs to their original line and makes both espresso and lungo coffee, both of which are available at just the touch of a button.

This coffee maker is also one of the most compact Nespresso machines, as it can easily fit in your counter space without sticking out like a sore thumb, and because of this compact design, it’s also very light with a weight of only 5.1 lbs.

The water tank on the Nespresso Essenza Mini can hold up 20.3 oz of water – around 600 ml – allowing you to create around five to six cups of lungo coffee before having to refill it.

If you’re one to just get a cup of coffee ready and leave without thinking of the power, the Nespresso Essenza Mini is one of the best Nespresso machines for you as it has an automatic power-saving mode.

After three minutes of inactivity, the coffee and espresso machine will go on low-energy mode, allowing it to consume less power, eventually turning completely off after nine minutes of inactivity.

The Nespresso Creatista Plus is a Breville collaboration original line, making it one of the smartest and most durable coffee makers in the market.

The Creatista Plus relies on a Nespresso capsule or K-cups like most of the other Nespresso machines, but it has a pod-reading program that automatically makes it prepare the grounds in the best way possible.

Additionally, the Creatista Plus also has an integrated milk frother, leaving you unbothered by the need to prepare a fresh milk froth from separate milk frothers – like the milk frother for the Vertuo line – every time you make a cup of coffee with either cold or hot milk.

Its milk frothing technology is also designed to be easily adjusted and programmed by its users to really give them the freedom to make their coffee just how they want it.

This coffee and espresso machine also comes with a 50-ounce water tank, which is also around 1.5 L, so you can serve a lot of people without having to refill the water reservoir with some hot water every time you make a cup.

  • Serves 3 different cup sizes

The Nespresso Lattissima Pro is an espresso machine that belongs to Nespresso’s De’Longhi original line, along with the Lattissima Touch and Gran Lattissima.

This espresso machine boasts the ability to make a lot of coffee shop recipes, from simple espressos to cappuccinos, macchiatos, or even if you just want plain hot water.

With a few taps on LCD screen beside the capsule container of the coffee maker, the machine can easily make both coffee and espresso, as it is integrated with programs for different recipes to suit other people.

If you don’t like the pre-programmed recipes, you can also opt to make your own version of the recipes by adjusting the settings of the integrated milk frother for both cold and hot milk, as Nespresso has added it as a feature to properly suit their customer’s needs.

The coffee and espresso maker comes with a 43.96 ounce or 1-liter removable water tank, which also easily produces hot water with its reduced heat up time, to serve you in as quickly as possible.

This Nespresso machine also has an energy-saving mode, so you don’t have to worry about forgetting to shut it off before leaving, as after a couple of minutes, the machine will go to a low energy consumption mode, before eventually shutting down completely.

It’s very simplistic design allows you to easily navigate through making your coffee, as all you would need to do is pop in some Nespresso pods in the capsule container, choose between two sizes, which are espresso and lungo, and wait a couple of seconds for your drip coffee.

Rest assured, the drip coffee tastes very much like professionally made Nespresso coffee, so you’ll never be disappointed with the drink, especially since it was made to have a reduced heat up time.

  • 5-liter capacity
  • Adjustable milk carafe dispenser
  • Has coffee shop recipes

  • Milk frother easily malfunctions

The Nespresso Inissia is one of the single-serve coffee makers that belong to Nespresso’s original line, and is made to be a compact, yet beautifully designed and high-quality coffee maker, much like the Essenza Mini.

Of all the single-serve espresso machines I’ve tried, I can say that the Nespresso Inissia is in the earlier portion of the list, being able to produce barista-grade coffee at the touch of a button.

The beautiful compact design doesn’t take up much on your counter space, so you don’t have to worry about making major rearrangements unless your countertop is already filled with all your utilities.

This Nespresso machine, like most of the other Nespresso machines, also comes with an energy-saving mode, as it automatically shuts off after nine minutes of inactivity.

If you’re worried about reviews about K-cups and certain Nespresso pods, it certainly won’t affect your experience as the Nespresso capsules are well-crafted and designed to produce only the best coffee for you, though it might take some time exploring other Nespresso pods as well.

  • Compact design
  • Serves espresso and lungo
  • Very easy to use and navigate

  • Often jams and ruins capsules

Instant Pod Coffee and Espresso Maker

Instant Pod Coffee and Espresso Maker

Instant’s Pod Coffee and Espresso Maker is a very compact espresso maker that doesn’t belong to any Nespresso original line but is very much similar to the Essenza Mini in its design and functionality aspect.

This espresso machine makes a cup of espresso or coffee from K-cups and some Nespresso capsules, allowing you to place the capsule of your choice without being limited to just one brand.

Additionally, the Instant machine also makes its coffee in many sizes, like a double espresso, gran lungo, and more.

It also boasts coffee shop-grade coffee as it can deliver up to 19 bars of pressure to fully utilize and extract the espresso flavor in your Nespresso capsules.

This Instant espresso maker comes with a 60 oz removable water reservoir, which is very easy to handle given that it can be very fragile.

You can also opt to have the machine prepare some hot water for you just in case you need it quickly, but make sure that there are no K-cups or Nespresso capsules left in the capsule container so you don’t accidentally make a cup of coffee.

  • Uses either K-cups or Nespresso Capsules
  • Serves 6 different cup sizes
  • The water reservoir is easy to handle

  • Splatters and causes a mess for short cups

Nespresso Citiz

The Nespresso CitiZ is another Nespresso machine that is very much similar to the Essenza Mini thanks to its compact design and high-quality features.

Externally, the CitiZ has a removable water reservoir that can hold up to 34 oz of water, which the machine will heat up for you with its reduced heat up time, allowing you to have a shot of espresso in just the press of a button.

For maintenance purposes, this Nespresso machine also comes with a removable capsule container and drip tray, so you can easily have it cleaned and maintained.

This coffee machine also allows you to make your coffee in either espresso or lungo cup sizes, so you can be energized and ready to go about your day.

Nespresso Vertuo Next

NESPRESSO Vertuo Next Coffee by DeLonghi

The Nespresso Vertuo Next belongs to the Vertuoline machines which use Vertuo pods to make a cup of coffee or a simple shot of espresso.

Of all the Vertuoline machines, the Vertuo Next is the only machine that serves coffee in six different cup sizes, as the other coffee makers like the Nespresso Coffee and Espresso Machine and Nespresso VertuoPlus, another Vertuo machine, only serves in 3 different cup sizes.

As mentioned, Vertuo Next uses Vertuo capsules to make espresso or lungo coffee drinks, which is still very much similar to a Nespresso capsule.

This coffee maker can also make a double espresso drink, as it is one of the six options in the machine.

The water tank on the Vertuo Next can hold up to 37 oz of water, and can come with an Aeroccino milk frother in the set, as that addition makes the good coffee taste even better!

  • Works with Aeroccino 3
  • The only Vertuo that serves six cup sizes
  • Extremely slim design

  • Loud operation

Wacaco Nanopresso

The Wacaco Nanopersso is not a Nespresso machine, but is a great and highly recommended espresso machine for the more adventurous ones out there, as this device is even smaller than an Essenza Mini!

This puny espresso machine even boasts coffee shop-grade coffee at your own hands, which I can really say is true to what it says as I have brought it on camping trips.

The Nanopresso works for both coffee grounds and Nespresso capsules, so you can easily swap between your own grounds or store-bought capsules, depending on what you would want to have.

Unlike other Nespresso machines, the Wacaco Nanopresso is manually operated, needing only hot water and grounds or capsules, so you are really in control of what happens to your coffee, whereas Nespresso machines would you require you to have electricity before getting it to operate.

  • Uses grounds or capsules
  • Small and lightweight
  • Comes with a storage case for traveling

  • Manual operation

Nespresso Gran Lattissima

Nespresso Gran Lattissima by De'Longhi

You can support us by making purchases from our links. We may earn commissions from it, at no additional cost to you.

The Nespresso Gran Lattissima is the best Nespresso machine of all the Nespresso machines I have encountered, is closely related to but way better than the Nespresso Lattissima Pro.

This Nespresso machine has a humble water tank capacity of up to 33.8 oz but is already pretty large enough considering that it also has a built-in milk frother.

This coffee machine has a very beautiful and sleek design that helps you prepare coffee shop-grade coffee with just the press of a button.

The Nespresso machine makes delicious coffee drinks, especially since a lot of its coffee production mechanisms can be adjusted, such as the milk frother, to help you alter your coffee to taste.

Though it may look large and bulky, making it seem intimidating to maintain and clean, the Nespresso machine actually comes with an option for maintenance, where all you would need is water in the tank, and pressing a button would rinse out a lot of gunk from its pipes.

  • Comes with coffee shop recipes
  • Integrated milk frother
  • Built-in self-cleaning program

  • Very bulky design

Buying Guide

How do I choose a Nespresso Machine?

Buying a Nespresso can actually be quite intimidating, especially since there are a lot of Nespresso machines in the market that have different features.

Additionally, not one Nespresso machine can instantly suit all your needs, and a lot of machine reviews can be misleading as they can earn an affiliate commission, so this portion of article will help you find the best Nespresso machine that suits your needs.

Nespresso Lines

There are many Nespresso lines that can make buying a machine Nespresso intimidating, but the most important thing you need to consider is what features you’re after and best suits your lifestyle.

A machine Nespresso from its different lines, be it De’Longhi, Vertuo machines, or the original line is unique in its own way, and though the most recent ones can have more advanced features, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s better than past products.

Take some time considering what you think is best about the many espresso machines in the market, especially the ones from Nespresso lines, like Vertuo machines or De’Longhi Lattissimas, so you can really purchase it without regrets.

Energy Saving

An energy-saving feature makes a machine best, at it not only helps save the planet by consuming less power, it also helps you save money on power costs.

Try to go for a Nespresso machine that has an energy-saving feature to help you essentially reduce your costs over time.

For the Milk Lover

There all kinds of machines with Nespresso milk frothers, and quite a lot of people like to have frothed milk in their coffee to remove some of its bitter taste.

Milk lovers should go for cost-efficient Nespresso machines that help them achieve their tastes without having to spend too much.

The perfect coffee machine for you can come in any shape and size, but you should always take into consideration the counter space you have before buying the bulkier designs, as improper storage can damage the components on a machine.

Is it worth it to buy a Nespresso machine?

Nespresso machines are totally worth the buy, especially if you would like to avoid visiting a coffee shop every day before work.

Once you buy a Nespresso machine, you get to save on expenses for travel and service fees, as all you would have to pay for now is the electricity!

Is Nespresso Vertuo or original better?

I found that the Nespresso Vertuo line is better than the original line, as the Vertuo machines can be adjusted by using the milk frothers that come in a set.

However, I have to say that what’s best for me may not turn out well for you, so it is really up to you how you like your coffee.

Editor’s Pick

For me, the best Nespresso machine is really the Nespresso Vertuo by Breville , as it comes with many features and has very premium attachments that help with adding to its flavor and quality.

If you found a Nespresso machine that seems like it would work well for you, go ahead and buy one for yourself today!
